About

Niki Orfanou was born in Athens, Greece. She writes plays, fiction and poetry. She's based in London, UK. 

Her plays have been staged in the UK as well as Germany, France, Greece. Her work (plays & fiction) have won/ been shortlisted in prestigious competitions including the Palmarès des Journées de Lyon des Auteurs de Théâtre (France), Scriptspace (Tobacco Theatres Bristol), Athens System (Greece), Verity Bargate Awards (Soho Theatre London), Prix des Libraires du Quebec (Canada), the Screenwriting Challenge NYC (USA). Her poetry has appeared in Plainsongs and Tint Journal.

She holds a PhD in dramatic writing from Roehampton University in London, following studies in philosophy, psychology, education (University of Crete), politics (MA, University of York), playwriting (Mphil, University of Birmingham) and theatre (Roehampton). She’s also studied screenwriting at the National School of Film and TV (NFTS), poetry (Poetry School, CityLit) and did the Faber's Academy flagship course 'Writing A Novel'. Her background includes over ten years of journalism, specialising in literature and the performing arts. 

She occasionally works as a writing mentor / developmental editor and teaches writing workshops.
